Why Do You Have Bleeding When Brushing Your Teeth?

August 31, 2009  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: cheap plus size clothing

Why do my gums bleed when I brush my teeth? This is a question that needs answered. It is also a vary common question among people of varying ages, genders, lifestyles, et cetera. Likely, at one time or another, almost every single one of us have seen traces of pink when we brush our teeth. You should not try to pass this off as something minor. Your oral health depends on taking this problem seriously. Ozone generators can often prove to be helpful by creating an oxygenated mouthwash that might just kill the germs that cause gum disease and even bad breath.

Many things can cause your gums to bleed when you brush your teeth. Sometimes, it can be blamed on sensitive gums. You may be brushing your teeth too hard. The bristles on your tooth brush might be too rough or too firm. You may even spend too much time brushing your teeth. Any of these might be the cause of bleeding gums. No matter what, though, you should talk to your periodontist to see if any of these causes are the case.

This is vital, because bleeding gums can be a sign of periodontal disease, otherwise known more simply as gum disease. In general, gingivitis may be the underlying cause behind bleeding gums. The good news is that it is possible to reverse the effects of gingivitis.

One of the devices that might be useful for fighting this type of problem is a ozone generator.  Such devices can produce oxygenated water that can be used as a mouthwash.

However, if gingivitis is left untreated, it can lead to more serious forms of disease. For instance, it could turn into gingival disease. That can make your teeth start to become loose and they can eventually even start to fall out.

A good
oral irrigator is another useful tool, they provide much benefit, but in a different way than the ozone generators mentioned previously.

Other, even more serious problems can cause your gums to bleed when you brush. It might be a sign of a blood disorder, even cancer based disorders like leukemia. Clotting problems may be the underlying issue too.

On a less serious note, sometimes people are sensitive or even allergic to things like aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, and things of that nature. These supplements and OTC medications can sometimes act as blood thinners, which could explain the problem. You will never know unless you talk to your periodontist though.

You need to know more than just what to eat and how much to exercise. You should also know how to fine tune your metabolism and teach your body how to make the most of its natural ability to burn calories.

Cutting your calories too low sends your body into “starvation” mode. Our bodies were made to save themselves from starvation. If you continue to keep your calorie intake too low the hunger pangs your body will eventually send out only cause you to overeat and gain back all the weight you’ve lost! The general recommendation is to eat calories equal to ten times your weight in pounds.

Myth #2 All Calories Are Alike
It’s important to know that all calories are not equal. We have to take in calories for energy. We consume calories for fuel but the way they are metabolized affects our weight. You actually may find that you aren’t losing any weight at all if you try to cut your calories too low!

If you consume foods that release sugar into the bloodstream quickly you’ll tend to gain weight. If you consume foods that release the sugars into the bloodstream more slowly you’ll be more likely to lose weight. Your best choice for the healthiest calories are whole, unprocessed foods.

You probably be very surprised at how much food you can eat and still lose weight when you make smart choices!

Myth #3 Eating Fat Makes You Fat
We seemed to have grown fatter even though we’ve consumed far less fat over the last 30 years! Unfortunately we are now in a full blown obesity epidemic!

Cutting out fat may not necessarily give you the results you hoped for.We need to know how to choose the right kind of fat.Opt for the “good” fats like monounsaturated and omega-3s to actually help you lose weight. The “bad” fats that make you gain weight are things like vegetable oil and trans fats.

Myth #4 Losing The Weight By Losing The Carbs
We absolutely need some carbs to survive! They are absolutely vital to our long term health. For the healthiest choice in carbs opt for unprocessed, high fiber foods. You should concentrate on the “glycemic load” rather than the glycemic index of foods in order to lose weight faster. It’s important that you make high fiber choices.

Myth #5 Skipping Meals = Losing The Weight
Skipping breakfast is one of the biggest mistakes you can make when you’re trying to lose weight. Breakfast is critical to let your body know that “fasting” time (sleep) is over and it gets your metabolism started. Skipping this meal will only result in you being famished by the end of the day and will inevitably lead to overeating and eating late at night.

Have a healthy breakfast, eat small meals every 3 hours or so and stop eating 2 to 3 hours before going to bed.

You can be successful at losing the weight if you avoid these common dieting myths. Following a sensible, healthy eating plan made up of as many whole, unprocessed and high fiber foods as possible will help you reach your weight loss goals.
